Flu update 24.9.21

We have now received our flu vaccine for patients over the age of 65 and are sending messages out to patients over 80 this weekend to book.

We will of course follow up those who we can't access by message or email, but in the meantime we would appreciate it if you have a friend or relative in that age group, if you could please encourage them to book their appointment. Our clinics this year are at the pavillon in Pitstone, this is so that we can provide social distancing and a one way flow to protect our most vulnerable patients as much as possible. We will be coadministering the covid boosters when we can, but its important not to delay having either vaccine when offered, as the predictions are for a severe flu season this year. Booking is online for those who have access or via reception. Thank you

Flu clinics 2021/22

We wanted to let you know about our forthcoming flu clinics. Adult flu immunisation will be at the Pitstone pavillion to allow for a one way flow of patients and good social distancing.
We had planned to invite both those aged over and under 65 to these clinics, but we have had a message this morning to tell us that the vaccine for our over 65 year old patients (as of the 1st April 2022) will be delayed. So unfortunately we will only be able to immunise those under 65 years of age until we get supplies of vaccine-
We don't have specific information about coivd booster doses yet. If it's at all possible we aim to give patients eligible for both flu and covid booster the immunisations at the same time - until the JCVI advise us what to do we can't make firm plans but we are as prepared as we can be to act and release clinics once the advice is published.
As we all had reduced social contact in the last flu season all the predictions and early indicators are that we are likely to have high circulating levels of flu and respiratory illness this Winter so we are keen to get all our eligible patients immunised as soon as we possibly can, we have reserved a dose for everyone who had a flu jab last year.
Please try not to call reception about this - we will update the information on our facebook site and out website as soon as the information is released to us.

Changes to rules on wearing Facemasks - NHS guidelines

As we have so many vulnerable patients  in our buildings we will still expect anyone coming to our practices to wear masks unless they are medically exempt. We will be making some more face to face appointments pre-bookable and are planning these carefully to allow patients to remain socially distanced in our waiting rooms. Thank you for helping us in this

We are planning our Influenza  vaccination programme for this Autumn.

The Department of Health has indicated in the last week that  they are hoping to offer patients a covid vaccine booster dose at the same time as receiving the flu vaccine.

At present we are waiting for clarification as to how this will work in practice.

Further updates will follow once we have more information.

Following Government guidance and to help protect our patients and the Surgery staff from the COVID –19 (Corona virus) outbreak we have changed the way that we are providing appointments.

This will mean that all appointments will now be triaged by a Clinician. If you call to re-quest an appointment the Reception staff will add your name to the triage list with a short statement about your reason for calling. This is to ensure that the more urgent calls are answered first by one of the Clinicians.

After a phone consultation you may still be asked to come for a face-to-face appointment if this is required.

Please only come to the Surgery if you have an appointment  or to pick up medications, forms / letters, or specimen bottles .

Our surgeries

The practice began in Dr Jones' home on 1.2.1985. As the patient numbers grew, it progressed to the two purpose built premises, which opened in Pitstone on 1.7.1991 and Edlesborough on 1.4.1992. Today the practice is continuing to grow and develop and currently we have just over 7500 patients.

When ordering medicines please be aware: As a practice we are almost 10% overspent on our drug budget- this makes us the worst in Buckinghamshire - this cannot carry on and so we ask for your understanding that we cannot provide prescriptions for medicines available to buy from a pharmacy. This includes seasonal allergies such as hayfever, indigestion remedies, treatments for worms and headlice. Also if you are given a hospital prescription you MUST please take this to the hospital pharmacy.

Edlesborough and Pitstone Surgeries website is constantly being updated to provide the best possible service.

To initially obtain access to the 'Repeat Prescriptions' below we will need to verify your identity in person with photo ID evidence as listed in the 'New patients' tab for registration.
